Our Osteoarthritis Management Program is available face-to face or online and provides individualised, evidence-based support to help those living with pain or are limited in their ability to do physical activity because of knee pain associated with osteoarthritis (OA). The program can be modified for those with hip OA
About the osteoarthritis management program
The program includes education about OA, pain management strategies, strengthening exercises and an activity plan to reduce pain and help you return safely to the activities you love.
The program involves 5 one-to-one online consultations with a student physiotherapist over a period of 3 months. The students are closely supervised by a highly-qualified musculoskeletal physiotherapist and have been specifically trained in delivering this service online.
Osteoarthritis management plans will be tailored to your personal goals and will typically use minimal exercise equipment (e.g. elastic resistance bands (provided) and/or body weight), able to be performed at home.
Total cost for all 5 sessions will be $150 ($30 per appointment).
The service is based on the PEAK training program, designed by the Centre for Health, Exercise & Sports Medicine (CHESM) at the University of Melbourne (NHMRC grant) to whom we give all credit and many thanks.
For more information, please call 1800 188 295 or email us at [email protected].
A physiotherapist will get in contact with you to ensure the program is suitable to your needs.
What is osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis is defined as being the “degeneration of joint cartilage and the underlying bone, most common from middle age onward. It causes pain and stiffness, especially in the hip, knee, and thumb joints.”
