Dr Ghassan Idris

Dr. Ghassan Idris is a dental specialist (Orthodontist) who has been exclusively practising orthodontics since 2005. Dr Idris holds several academic and professional qualifications in Orthodontics: a postgraduate diploma, and a Master of Philosophy from Albaath University; He holds a Clinical Doctorate (DClinDent-Orth); and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Orthodontics from the University of Otago. Dr Idris holds Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (MRACDS- Orth). 

Dr Idris practised Orthodontics exclusively as an orthodontist/ senior orthodontist in different places in the world in private, Hospital, and university settings. He lectured Orthodontics at Albaath University and at the University of Otago for more than eight years. He currently works in the Queensland Children’s Hospital focusing on the treatment of children and adults with Cleft Lip and Palate and other complex Cranio-facial anomalies who require comprehensive orthodontic treatment and jaw surgeries.

Dr Idris has wide expertise in early orthodontic treatment for growing patients with jaw problems, Myofunctional treatment and jaw muscle functions in children, and orthodontic treatment in aid for children and adults with sleep apnoea and snoring. His clinical research in those areas and other vital areas were well-distinguished and well-received internationally by orthodontists’ and other related communities. He has many highly influential publications and conference presentations in leading international meetings. Currently, he is testing novel ideas for treating patients with cleft lip and palate and craniofacial deformities.
