ABOUT THE PROJECT

Chronic diseases, such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes, are the leading cause of illness and death in Australia and globally. These illnesses are largely preventable and are associated with lifestyle risk factors including tobacco smoking, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, excessive alcohol consumption, and overweight and obesity. The aim of this project is to investigate the effectiveness of The GroWell for Health Program, an eight (8) week e-Health program tailored for midlife adults aimed at facilitating healthy lifestyle behaviour change.

The research team is looking for male and female participants who are:

  • Australian residents
  • Aged 40 to 59 years
  • Able to speak and read English
  • Able to access and use a computer, tablet or eReader device

What will you ask me to do?

Your participation will involve undertaking an 8 week healthy lifestyle program (the GroWell for Health Program).  You will also complete 2 virtual appointments (via FaceTime or Skype) with either a trained nurse or research assistant at baseline and on completion of the program. The Program provides health information and advice about a range of health topics including physical activity, healthy eating, healthy habits, stress management, better sleep and preventive health behaviours.  All participants will also be asked to complete an online questionnaire on three occasions.  Some participants will also be asked to participate in an additional questionnaire to provide program feedback (via phone or virtual connection).

I am interested – what should I do next?
