In good news for prospective and current pharmacy students, the release of the 2018 Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) has revealed that pharmacy graduates have seen the largest salary increase in the previous three years.
The data shows that graduates that studied medicine, pharmacy and engineering from 2014 through to 2017 enjoyed higher than average salaries by 2018, with pharmacy graduates seeing a 78% increase by 2018. In addition, the percentage of graduates in full-time employment within 4 months post-graduation is currently at 93% in 2018, which has to take into consideration multiple factors that cause attrition in graduates like a change in family circumstance or of industry.
Professor Andrew Davey, Head of School, Pharmacy and Pharmacology says that while “Pharmacists have always been in demand the big increase in salary is just the reward for the specialised training that they receive and the important service they provide to the community.”
For students considering postgraduate study in a Master of Pharmacy the good news continues. The four study areas that showed the highest overall employment over three years were Veterinary Science, Rehabilitation, Pharmacy and Dentistry; with pharmacy postgraduate students finding a high employment rate of 97.3% post-graduation.
