HOPE4HEALTH

Indigenous HOPE4HEALTH’s Indigenous portfolio aims to raise awareness relating to topics of significance in First Peoples’ health. The focus of this portfolio is to promote positive First Peoples’ health messages to students and the wider community. Initiatives include awareness raising activities such as guest speaker seminars, clinical skills trips and teddy bear hospitals.

Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME)

AIME is a dynamic educational program that is proven to support Indigenous students through high school and into university, employment or further education at the same rate as all Australian students. AIME gives Indigenous students the skills, opportunities, belief and confidence to grow and succeed.

Queensland Rural Multidisciplinary Education (QRME)

QRME with Griffith University are striving to increase the numbers of Indigenous students studying and graduating from all health programs. Achieving this aim in medicine will be supported by the Rural Priority Access Scheme, which will offer places to remote or rural students eligible to study medicine from 2017.

Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE)

Griffith is one of 32 organisations nationwide to participate in the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) pilot. The Director of the First Peoples Health Unit will lead the work to improve the promotion and retention of Indigenous women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM).

Rodanthe Lipsett Indigenous Midwifery Trust

Rhodanthe Lipsett’s dream is for all First Peoples’ women to have improved pregnancy and birth outcomes by having the benefit of care from First Peoples’ midwives. The aim of the trust is to contribute to both ‘a better start in life’ and ‘Closing the Gap’ for all First Peoples’ mothers and babies, by providing scholarships to First Peoples students undertaking a Bachelor of midwifery. Griffth University engages Connect ‘n’ Grow to deliver the Aspirations and Pathways to Health program.
