When Matt first began his degree, he was taking a leap of faith on what was then a brand-new program – the Bachelor of Sport Development.

“I went straight from high school into the degree, and I was actually lucky enough to be the very first intake at Griffith. It was certainly worth taking the leap and going into the unknown,” he says.

“I’m currently employed at the Gold Coast Titans as the Community Programs and Development Officer. My role encapsulates a range of responsibilities form driving commercial outcomes for the business, program delivery, managing school rugby league competition, and organising player engagements.”

In this role, Matt combines his love of sport with his desire to drive change in the community.

“There’s lots I love about my job,” he says.

“You see the impact that we can have on people in the community. Helping one person might not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.”

Matt says that despite taking a chance on a new degree, he felt well-supported through his studies by his tutors and lecturers at Griffith.

“I felt really from the start that my degree set me up for life after graduation,” he says.

“You’re not just a number in the crowd, they care about you, they want you to success and see you have a lifelong career.”
