Griffith University graduates Dr Bharat Agrawal and Dr Andrew Firgaira are doing what some believe impossible – overturning negative perceptions about visiting the dentist.

Bharat, Andrew and third partner Dr David Ashford operate Oasis Dental Studio, a state-of-the-art practice based on the Gold Coast with studios in Broadbeach, Chirn Park and Palm Beach.

With a holistic philosophy built on leading clinical expertise, the latest technology and procedures, and dedication to compassionate care and after-care, the Oasis mission extends beyond general dentistry to embrace positive outcomes for the entire face and general health and wellbeing.

“This field is all about interaction. “A smile isn’t just about how you look; it’s about how you feel,” says Bharat.

”In creating a new smile for someone, we look further than the teeth. We want to see how it affects and complements the lips, the eyes, the skin and more.

“Our practice is underpinned by patient comfort and the ability to offer complete solutions that improve patients’ appearance and dental health, as well as their quality of life.”

Bharat grew up in Melbourne before moving to the Gold Coast to study dentistry at Griffith. Graduating in 2010, he was awarded the Australian Society of Orthodontics Prize for Excellence in Orthodontics and also Endodontics (Root Canal Treatment).

A past president of the Australian Dental Association Gold Coast sub-branch, Bharat has also been granted membership to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Passionate about what he describes as the “art of dentistry”, he is completing his Masters in Aesthetic Dentistry through the prestigious King’s College in London.

While Bharat and Andrew understand that patients may be apprehensive about dental treatment, they are dedicated to providing pain-free dentistry in a relaxed, comfortable and contemporary environment.

With a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide, Andrew completed his Master’s degree in Clinical Dentistry (Implant Dentistry) at Griffith University in 2012.

Since then he has committed himself to training in the most advanced treatments and techniques available, from cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and full mouth rehabilitation to implant dentistry and facial injectables.

Furthermore, his advanced training with the world-leading Australasian Academy of Dento-Facial Aesthetics and Training means Andrew is one of only a handful of trainers in dento-facial aesthetics in Australia.

“The most rewarding part of our job is delivering our promise to achieve our patient’s desired appearance and help to relieve pain or discomfort,” says Andrew.

“Their smile is improved, they speak better, chew better, look better. More tellingly, they feel better and that overall outcome is so positive for health and contentment.”

Bharat and Andrew both acknowledge the quality of the dentistry programs at Griffith, crediting the teaching and professional engagement with helping to inform the philosophy behind Oasis Dental Studio.
